It's obviously been a while since I last posted anything, so let's come up to speed:
1. I'm still going through school, but I'm not doing as well with it as I was before. I completely burnt myself out this past semester working and going to school.
2. The family members that have moved in at the beginning of 2009 are still there, and apparently have no intention of leaving in the immediate and/or forseeable future.
3. The year ended on a sour note because I got mugged the week of Christmas by some teenage punk with a fake gun, who then broke my face after I broke his gun. The following week I had surgery to repair an orbital blowout fracture (a medical term for what can cause your eyeball to slide down into your sinuses). I finally got the all-clear to go back to work today, so at least that's a potentially good thing--if for no other reason than I'm going to have a shitload of medical bills to pay, even if insurance foots part of the bill. The other bit of good news is that they caught the junior thug who did it (his dad narked him out) and I may or may not be getting back my shit sometime before I die.
What do I hope to accomplish this coming year?
1. I am currently on a spending freeze because I am saving up to get my own place. It's become painfully obvious that I desperately need to be able to have someplace to parade around completely naked if I so choose, and that's obviously not going to be where I am now.
2. I am hoping to still be in school by the end of the year, although the drive to stay in school is lessening with the years. My cousin managed to become the first Wilson offspring to graduate from college, so there's no longer that hanging over me. There's also the fact that the majority of my classes that I would need to take for my major can only be taken during the day.
3. If I have enough vacation days left over from this mugging business (I think I had enough sick days to cover it without raiding my vacation days) and enough money left over from the apartment thing, I am going to take myself a nice long vacation in California. I wanna hit the three big cities there--especially San Francisco and San Diego. I only got to spend a few hours in SD, and I never really got to enjoy SF the last time I was there almost ten years ago.
Obviously I have a lot more I could post, but that I'll save for another day.

Just a test to see if I can use Windows Live Writer with Blogger. Looks like I can. More to come later.

Beware of "The Gay"!
As you're no doubt aware unless you've been out of it for the past couple weeks now, the world in general is staring right in the face of a pandemic--the swine flu.
But in the past week, there's been another pandemic brewing, one that could have equally disastrous implications...
It's called "the Gay."
Some people live in mortal fear of contracting it. Others caught it ages ago, but have been hiding the symptoms. And still others revel in their "sickness."
Now, before you get the wrong impression, I should probably warn you that I belong in the last category. Although I have not been out to anyone but a select few, I am no longer all that worried about who knows. At 40, there are a hell of a lot more important things I could be wasting my time and energy on other than having to justify my bedroom politics to people who will never accept it no matter what.
Enough of that, then. On to what really prompted this post.
In the past week, three major celebrities admitted that they are gay, and with the exception of one of them, we more or less figured that out years before they did:
Kelly McGillis--Now, honestly, who didn't see that coming at least a country mile away? I say it was Tom Cruise's fault. He and Prince have this thing with women that all but ruins them for any other man after they leave him.
Pink--She's the aforementioned exception. Supposedly she came out as bi in an interview back on 2006, and is just now getting around to denying it. What timing.
And finally, the newest celeb to catch "the gay": David Odgen Stiers, aka Maj. Charles Winchester from "MASH." He wins the Lily Tomlin "No-Duh" award for coming out. I mean, this is something I suspect everybody else more or less figured out a long time ago. But all the same, welcome.
With all the recent comings-out, I honestly wonder who's going to be next. My money's on John McCain. I mean, he plays every angle of an issue, and he's older than dirt, so coming out wouldn't hurt him. Besides, who'd want him?
I'm holding out for Abraham Benrubi to come out as at least bi. He's definitely very bear-friendly, and he at least knows about us . Hell, the guy who used to run his official website is a bear. So Abe, if you're out there...hint hint!

My first real post...
I'll keep this short.
You probably won't see a whole lot here because I tend to forget I have blogs, and when I remember, I don't usually have a whole lot to say.
Generally, my life is fairly boring, usually only interesting to me. If anyone derives even the slightest bit of amusement and/or knowledge from it, that's nice to hear.
Generally, I will be posting things here of a somewhat, shall we say, homophilic point of view. (For those of you in Yorba Linda, as Rush Limbaugh might say, that's gay-friendly) If I invite you and this bugs you, then by all means exit quietly and do not disturb the others who it doesn't bug.
I daresay, however, you will probably hear me grousing about something or another--usually the fact that I am a 40 year old pocketbear sans a long-term relationship who can't even find a regular activity partner. (Again, for those of you in Yorba Linda, that's a short, fat, hairy gay guy.)
I am also, in my mind anways, an avid progressive talk radio wonk. You'll occasionally hear me referring occasionally to things heard on shows from Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz or Randi Rhodes. Feel free to check out their programs and/or websites.
Anyways, that's it for now. Feel free to stop in from time to time. I'll try to post quasi-regularly and make it semi-interesting for everyone, straight and non-straight alike.
